Reserves, Risk and Return:

A Peer Roundtable on Financial Philosophy

Wednesday, December 16, Noon - 1:00 pm EST

Complimentary Webinar Exclusively for BXNet Active Members via Zoom

Panel Discussion

Led by David Siegel, Executive Director, Midwest Builders Exchange and Treasurer, BXNet

How much should your exchange keep in reserves? What should those reserves be invested in, and who decides? Every exchange answers these questions differently, and few of us get to compare notes with peers who run the same kind of business.

Join BXNet Treasurer David Siegel for the first session in our new quarterly webinar series. It’s designed as a roundtable rather than a lecture, so you’ll hear how other exchanges approach their finances and have a chance to share your own experience.

We’ll discuss:

  • How much exchanges hold in reserves, and how they set that target
  • Reserve and investment philosophies, from conservative to growth-minded
  • Whether your exchange needs a written reserve or investment policy, and what to include
  • How boards and executives share responsibility for financial decisions
  • Lessons learned from economic downturns and unexpected expenses

Who should attend: Executive directors, owners, CFOs, treasurers and board members of member exchanges.

Before the session: Registrants will receive a short questionnaire about their exchange’s reserve practices. Responses are anonymous and shared only in aggregate, so the conversation can start with real benchmarks from the network.

The webinar link will be emailed to registrants before the session.

This is the first session of BXNet’s quarterly webinar series. Upcoming topics include succession planning, accounting best practices, AI, and HR issues.
